I've been in radio for 5 years now, and I still haven't gotten used to working all the holidays. Everyone else is waking up leisurely, going out to breakfast, shopping great sales at Value Village, having a wonderful, American holiday to celebrate their hard work throughout the year. And here we are at the radio station, reporting the news, traffic and weather to our faithful listeners, and the 5 cars out on the road.I do love the news, but I love my free time more. I remember when I had all these holidays, and took them for granted. Now, any extra day off is a godsend.
My hat is off to all my radio friends out there, who are struggling to find stories on a slow news day. We are there for all the people on the roads, even when there are no traffic jams. The news must go on!!
And speaking of news, I'm praying for all those people in the Gulf Coast who are getting slammed by another storm.
