Engage

I used to be embarrassed to admit I liked watching Star Trek the Next Generation. I should say LOVED watching it. Every Wednesday night, I'd go to my Dad and stepmom's house, and it was a ritual for us to watch Star Trek, and I was especially thrilled when we ordered pepperoni pizza to go with it. My first crush as a teenager was a character on Star Trek: Ensign Wesley Crusher. I used to blush when my stepmom teased me about him.

When I moved to Bainbridge Island and joined the library system, I searched for TNG, and then put myself on the waiting list. I've lived on the island for almost a year, and FINALLY got my hands on Season 3. I've been watching it like a fiend, 2 episodes on the train ride to Portland, 4 episodes yesterday. I'm about to start watching part of one on the ferry - I have 15 minutes left, I can make an episode last a week! haha.

I love Star Trek because I've always been fascinated by the stars, and space exploration. I love to watch the adventures and the lessons the crew learns. And most of all, I'm no longer embarrased to admit that I like it.

Don't worry. I used to watch Star Trek NG, too. Loved it. Geek power!

Though I didn't watch any of the Star Treks-- I'm an admitted GEEK for space. I'm sure I would have loved it-- but I can't tear myself away from news shows and books.

But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE space and everything about it.

I'm so glad we share this trait-- I know Colleen does too.

I was a TOTAL TNG geek. I was in LOVE with Captain Picard. In fact, in 1992, I even went to a Star Trek Convention in Seattle (with former KOMO editor Eric Heintz) because Patrick Stewart was going to be there. We waited for HOURS in line. Then inside, it was a surreal experience with people dressed like Borgs, Klingons given security duty at the stage (REALLY!!) and all kinds of Star Trek stuff to buy.

I admit I bought some Star Trek soft porn....I was just dumbfounded that somebody wrote dirty little stories about the characters that I had to own it. I think I still have it somewhere.

Anyway, when Picard....I mean Stewart finally took the stage, I was surprised. He became a regular human being. My crush was over, but I still love the show!

I'm go glad I'm not alone! It's funny, I used to think Captain Picard seemed old when I was 13, but watching it now, I see how handsome he is, and he's the one I'm getting a crush on! haha.

Oh, I was NEVER into that show. As much as I like astronomy, I just couldn't suspend my disbelief. But my geek show is X-Files. I was way more into the parascience and science fiction. My mom and I used to get together, friday nights with a bowl of popcorn and watch Mulder and Scully go back and forth on the belief in ghosts, ghouls and aliens. I saw the second movie just recently, and my mom and I were the only ones in the theatre, so it felt like we were sitting on the couch at home, once again. It made me really nostalgic for the Mulder and Scully relationship that I net flixed season one! It's still as good as it was before, but with very bad clothes!

Oh, you're not alone at all.
I actually advise you to dive into Star Trek Voyager. I find it the most appealing of all series.

have a nice day
